Ground breaking ceremony to be scheduled sometime in August
A timeline has been set for construction on the multiuse event center and Dallas Cowboys world headquarters, according to the city of Frisco communications office.
The Frisco Community Development Corp. on June 19 signed off on the final paperwork needed before construction could begin on the public-private partnership among the city of Frisco, Frisco ISD and the Dallas Cowboys.
"We're ecstatic to take this next step of allowing the site to be prepared for construction, which is one of many steps in the process," Mayor Maher Maso said. "We're dedicated to building a world class, quality development that will benefit our residents, inspire our students and captivate visitors from everywhere."
Engineers began surveying the site, and crews began installing temporary construction fencing the week of June 23, on the northwest corner of Warren Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway.
Site preparation is already underway, and equipment has been delivered to the property.
The next step is to start the land grading and digging process.
A ground breaking ceremony is being planned for sometime in August, but the exact details have not yet been announced.
The construction team includes Gensler, Manhattan Construction, Kimley Horn and Alliance Geotechnical Group.
Frisco ISD and the city of Frisco are investing a total of $115 million in the project, which will consist of a 12,000-seat indoor stadium, two outdoor practice fields and the Dallas Cowboys world headquarters building.
"We are all eager to get the project underway," FISD Superintendent Jeremy Lyon said. "As the bricks and mortar of the stadium are built, we are just as energetically building future opportunities for students with the Dallas Cowboys and the City of Frisco. That's the name of the game here."
