The commercial property vacancy rate in Denton dropped nearly two percentage points from 2024 to 2025, according to Texas-based real estate firm Weitzman’s annual report.
The report, which was published after Weitzman’s 2026 Annual Forecast, includes information on vacancy, an inventory of commercial space and new construction over the last year. During the event, Executive Managing Director Bob Young presented a look back at the retail market’s performance in 2025 along with a forecast for 2026.

In Denton, the year-end vacancy rate for commercial space was 4% for 2025, a decrease from 5.94% year-end vacancy rate in 2024, per the report. At the end of 2025, Denton had more than 6.06 million square feet of gross leasable area, compared to nearly 5.84 million square feet of gross leasable space at the end of 2024.
