Irving residents can learn about health insurance options at a Nov. 23 event hosted by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas.

The period during which Americans can sign up for health insurance, also known as open enrollment, began Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15.

To help Texans through the process, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas will hold open enrollment events at Sanitas Medical Center facilities throughout the Dallas region. The event at Sanitas in Irving is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at 3917 W. Airport Freeway.

Bilingual representatives will be on-site to provide assistance in selecting a plan, according to a Blue Cross Blue Shield press release.

“Buying health insurance can be a confusing and daunting process,” said Dr. Dan McCoy, president of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, in a statement. “That’s why we’ve deployed teams of representatives to open enrollment events throughout the community, including Sanitas Medical Centers, to provide face-to-face support during this process.”

The event will also include free wellness checks, healthy food giveaways and community resources, according to the release.
