The board of trustees approved these projects at a Feb. 24 meeting.
Of the gyms that will be renovated, projects at seven elementary schools will be funded from the district’s 2013 bond. Those elementary schools include Austin, Cottonwood Creek, Denton Creek, Lakeside, Town Center, Valley Ranch and Wilson.
New Tech High at Coppell will also receive a gym floor renovation, which will be funded by the district's 2016 bond.
CISD will negotiate with contractors Gomez Floor Covering and One Source Commercial Flooring to determine which will conduct the gym work, CISD Director of Purchasing Justin Hill said.
The work is expected to begin before students break for summer and to be complete before the start of the 2020-21 academic year, according to the district.
