After much anticipation, Frisco Fresh Market is officially open for business as of June 29, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the soft opening.

FFM consists of 70,000 square feet of rentable indoor and outdoor space, which offers specialty foods, fresh produce from farmers, artisans, crafters, merchants, restaurants and concept cuisines.

“We wanted to do a place that sells the best food and produce,” said one of FFM’s owners Paul Cheng. “And it turns out, we can do this at a cost that’s lower than you would have to pay at Whole Foods [Market] and Costco, and they are from award-winning farms.”

Produce vendors were chosen from locally and nationally renowned businesses both small and large that provide the most quality products, Cheng said.

“The goal is to not let Frisco Fresh Market to only be serving Frisco, but also the whole region, and become a model destination for fresh food and artisan products.”

The opening of the outdoor farmers market is Phase 1 of a larger project. Phase 2 will involve the construction of a building that will house an indoor market with restaurants, bars and vendors selling things, such as coffee beans, flowers, plants, candles, soaps, baked goods, chocolates, clothing, accessories and more. The indoor market is expected to be complete in 2019.

Phase 3 will include an Art Park in which 19 artists from around the world have been enlisted to create outdoor murals.

Frisco City Council approved the plans for the 32.6-acre mixed-use development in 2015. Initially, the project was expected to be complete by 2017, however, construction was delayed a year, pushing the opening to summer 2018.

On June 30, Frisco Fresh Market will hold a grand opening event starting at 9 a.m. The event will feature over 90 vendors, live music, cooking competitions, artist, caricaturists, games, raffle prizes and tents with fans to keep guests cool.
