The court would be placed at 100 and 200 E. Dove Road in Southlake. The court would be designed so individuals could show up and play, as long as the court is not already being used.
City staff said the Southlake Carroll Lacrosse Association is matching funds up to $85,000 towards construction of the wall ball court at North Park, and as such would probably request reserved times to use the court.
The goal of the wall ball court would be to increase hand-eye coordination for Southlake athletes and is one of the reasons why the SCLA is interested in building a court, according to city staff.
The wall ball court is designed to be approximately 16 feet, 4 inches in height by 32 feet, 10 inches wide and would be constructed of Hill Country Stone CMU block with a graffiti-resistant coating. A cast-stone Southlake logo would be inset into the end walls. The court would be lit at night to allow for evening activities.
A second reading on the land rezoning will be held next month.
