Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission approved a specific use permit for a private volleyball stadium within a planned development on Tuesday.
The stadium will be on one lot on 4.8 acres about 300 feet west of John W. Elliott Drive and 450 feet north of All Stars Avenue. The stadium will be used for volleyball and volleyball tournaments, and will serve as the home of the
Frisco Flyers Volleyball Club.
The club is designed for student athletes wanting to continue to develop their skills after the school volleyball season is over.
The stadium will have nine courts and will host about 6-8 tournaments a year. The facility will mainly be used for weekly practices and is expected to be complete in August 2018.
The stadium is part of larger planned development that will be on about 20 acres on the northwest corner of John W. Elliott and All Stars. The site plans include two office buildings, about nine tennis courts, and one retail building.
Commissioners were in favor of the stadium and said that it would be a good use for the area. The development will be adjacent to facilities such as FieldhouseUSA, Urban Air Trampoline Park and Canyons Rock Climbing.
