At Tuesday's Southlake City Council meeting, members voted unanimously to approve the Southlake Tourism Master Plan. The city adopted its first Economic Development & Tourism Master Plan in 2011. City officials said it was time to update the plan as the city's second hotel opened in December 2016 and there are two other hotels that will be opening in the next two years. The plan's introduction states, "With this increased demand, it is now more important than ever to develop a robust plan that identifies policies, programs and projects that will have the greatest impact on Southlake's economy." Here are some items lined out in the plan that are recommended for implementation: • Provide ongoing funding for maintenance and expansion of free public Wi-Fi in Southlake Town Square and other visitor-centric locations • Provide funding for and promotion of public transportation with stops at key locations in the city • Create methodology to assess the economic impact of visitors and return on investment of public funds • Create clear Hotel Occupancy Tax fund guidelines that are aligned with state expenditure requirements and meet the objectives of the city
