After multiple public hearings and several tabled votes, Frisco City Council voted Tuesday to annex about 80 acres of land in east Frisco.
The land to be annexed sits on six tracts on the southwest corner of Custer Road and Westridge Boulevard. Council considered annexing some of these tracts in 2015 but did not approve the annexation.
The proposed annexation includes Russwood Acres, a small neighborhood off of Custer. Russwood Acres residents voiced their concerns at previous meetings about paying city taxes and falling under city ordinances if their neighborhood is annexed.
According to city staff, Russwood Acres residents were presented with an annexation agreement for this case, which included property tax relief for a period of 10 years. However, council did not vote on acting upon the agreement Tuesday because not all the residents signed the agreement.
The proposed annexation also includes nearly 5 acres of land owned by affordable housing developer ADC Westridge. The development, Westridge Villas, is being constructed to have 132 multifamily units, 56 of which would be affordable housing.
