At the Aug. 2 Southlake City Council meeting, council members approved the first reading for a zoning change that will allow a hotel, specifically Hotel Indigo, as a permitted use in Carillon Corporate District. The existing zoning does not allow a hotel as a permitted use in the district, which is located  on 15.36 acres between the 200 and 400 block of E. SH 114 in Southlake. Council is expected to approve or deny the second reading for the zoning change, and ultimately Hotel Indigo, at its Aug. 16 meeting. The hotel, if approved, will be five stories and have between 119-121 guest rooms. It will also include a full-service restaurant and bar, ballroom and meeting room, fitness center, full-service kitchen, office spaces and on-site laundry rooms. “I think this will be a great addition to this property,” Council Member Shahid Shafi said. “I think it will spur growth. It’s a boutique hotel and I think it will be beautiful.” Besides Hotel Indigo, developers have plans to build two, three-story office buildings, two retail use buildings and two parking garages in the district.
