Frisco Parks and Recreation board approved the master plan for Frisco Commons during its July 14 meeting.

Plans that were presented for Frisco Commons included an adult activity center as well as other components, such as more connection trails leading to the activity center and along the creek.

“What the board was considering and acting on was to make sure we had all the components in the master plan that will benefit the park,” said Kyle LaFerney, parks planning and capital projects superintendent.

LaFerney said the plans would now go before the Frisco Community Development Corp. and Frisco City Council for approval.

Last month, the board approved the master plans for Wranglers Range park and Plum Creek park in Frisco.

Once approved, LaFerney said the master plan is a guideline for the Parks and Recreation Department to move forward with construction.

According to the department’s open space master plan, the purpose for the plan is to make certain Frisco parks have natural, open spaces, connected trails, parks and a high standard of maintenance and availability for corporate contributions to support parks.
