Frisco resident Laxmi Tummala has filed to run for Frisco City Council, Place 4.
Place 4 is currently held by Council Member John Keating, who is running for state representative.

Tummala said she decided to run for City Council because she has served in the community in the past, and it was time for her to give back in a larger role.
Tummala is a certified public accountant and has worked in real estate, both of which would help her in her role on council, she said.
"Being in real estate for many years and helping many, many people move to Frisco, I definitely have an understanding of what are the positives in their eyes, what are the things we can do a little differently," she said.
Tummala has worked with several city departments and resident groups over the years. She was involved in the campaign to bring the Karya Siddhi Hanuman Temple, a Hindu temple, to the city. She has also worked with Centennial Medical Center to host an annual health fair for Frisco residents.
Tummala said all of her goals for being on City Council revolve around one idea: to make Frisco great.
"Many cities have been great and then have taken a bit of a downturn," she said. "I just want to make sure that we plan Frisco properly so that that doesn't happen, that forever it's going to be a great place to live."
Cindy Asche and Bill Woodard have also filed for Place 4.
Filing for Frisco City Council opened Jan. 20 and will last until Feb. 19. The city’s election is set for May 7.
