The two-year process to update the city of Colleyville's comprehensive plan came to an end at the Colleyville City Council meeting on Dec. 15, with council members passing the ordinance in a 5-2 vote.
Destination Colleyville, an update to the 2004 comprehensive plan, will guide decision makers on topics from future land use, transportation, city services, housing and economic stability until 2035.
The Dec. 15 meeting was the third public hearing held to discuss the plan. The hearing was unanimously extended by council members on Dec. 1 to allow residents more time to review the document before a vote took place.
At the public meeting, residents continued to voice concerns about high residential density references in the plan as well as the extension of McDonwell School Road as they had in the two previous public hearing meetings.
Council members made the decision to take out the extension of the road in the plan before it was approved.
Council members Carol Wollin and Chris Putnam cast the dissenting votes for the plan.
