Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake, which is the city’s first hospital, hosted a ground breaking ceremony Sept. 9 for its 5,300-square-foot expansion.

The expansion will be connected to the existing 46,300-squarefoot hospital and will include six observation beds and the conversion of an underutilized procedure room into an inpatient bed. The expansion is anticipated to be complete in 2016.

Citing the need to meet demand for health care services from Southlake and surrounding communities, hospital President Traci Bernard said the expansion will create better efficiencies and an improved experience.

“Since joining this hospital in 2005, there have been many significant milestones, but this expansion is right at the top of the list, she said. “Not only does it allow us to serve more patients, but it will make us more efficient and provide added tools for our staff. Our goal has always been to be the best place to work, practice medicine and receive health care.”
