Officials are asking all boaters to avoid creating waves anywhere near Paradise Cove at Lake Grapevine, Lonesome Dove Ranch and Oak Grove Ballfield Complex. Although all boat ramps on Grapevine Lake that are managed by the city are closed because of flooding, various water craft are still able to access the lake via Silver Lake Marina. Because of extreme flooding, water is present in areas of land that are not normally subjected to standing water such as buildings, roadways, parking lots, ballfields, fence lines, play structures and picnic tables. All of these areas are extremely sensitive. Public safety officials discourage any boating, jet-skiing or water skiing anywhere near buildings or structures. Waves are causing additional damage and slowing down recovery as they crash into these buildings and structures. Submerged objects that may not be visible, such as trees and street signs, are also a hazard.
