Last year, 973 volunteers logged 24,275 hours of service. Those service hours were calculated to be valued at nearly $600,000. Hal Thomas, the Volunteer of the Year recipient, alone logged more than 600 hours of service last year. Thomas and Lee Wilson, the Gold Award recipient, could not receive their awards in person because both were volunteering that night. "Frisco is a great place to live because of the people that are here," council member Jeff Cheney said. "What we found throughout the city is that everybody finds their role to give in the community." The volunteers who donated the most hours of service or showed dedication in their work were awarded for their service. The following are the award-winning volunteers of 2014: Julia Cleath, Spirit Award: The Spirit Award goes to a volunteer, nominated by city staff, who embodies the spirit of volunteerism.
