The Frisco Economic Development Corp. has hired John Bonnot as its director of economic development.

Bonnot has served as director of economic development/business recruitment for the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce since June 2002.

His training and education includes training through the Institute for Organization Management at Southern Methodist University, and he is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma.

"The pace in [the EDC] office isn't just fast; we're operating at turbo speed right now," said Jim Gandy, president of the EDC, in a statement. "John Bonnot brings more than 25 years of chamber and economic development expertise that will allow him to make a quick and successful transition to his new position. He will be a great ambassador not only for Frisco, but also for the entire Dallas/Fort Worth region."

Bonnot will lead business-attraction efforts, helping businesses realize the benefits of relocating corporate headquarters or offices to Frisco.

The EDC will see another change in the near future. Darcy Schroer, the EDC's marketing director, said Nancy Windham, the EDC vice president, has retired, and the EDC will be looking for her replacement.
