What we reported After announcing it was coming in February 2015, Gander Mountain finally broke ground in spring 2016.


The retailer offers hunting, fishing and camping gear, plus boating and automotive equipment.


The latest The chain retailer opened the 60,000-square-foot store in late September in the Eldorado Marketplace on the northwest corner of Eldorado Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway.


The store is the 22nd Gander Mountain in Texas and the fifth in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.


Store services include an archery lane, hunting and fishing licenses, hunting safety classes, professional fishing line winding and a meeting space available for reservation.


Did you know The outdoor goods retailer has professional training academies that are designed to provide firearms users access to highly trained instructors and firing ranges with state-of-the-art simulation technology.

What we reported @nerdvana.coffee+shop opened June 30 in Frisco Square. The board game-themed coffee shop offers coffee, tea and juices.


The latest The drink menu has expanded since opening, and the business is featuring a “Guest Roaster of the Month.” Each month, the shop will feature a different coffee brand that will be sold in the store for one month.   


What’s next New snack and lunch items were added to the menu this month. The new menu includes panini sandwiches, seasonal soup and oatmeal.

What we reported Crafted, a home decor studio that offers do-it-yourself craft classes for adults and children, opened May 13.


The latest Since opening, Crafted has held public workshops, private parties and team building events, and the staff has also worked with children from Child’s Path, a Frisco-based therapeutic program for children with unique learning needs.


What’s next Crafted plans to work with a number of local businesses on special adult night out promotions and will start a Frequent Crafter Program and Thursday Night Tastings.

What we reported Grace Church opened its new church home in April in Frisco Square after about two years of construction.


The church was started in 2005, offering Sunday morning services at Fisher Elementary School.


The latest The Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission in September approved a specific-use permit for a private school to operate out of Grace church’s classroom space.


Camerata School, a classical education school, is renting the space from the church.


What’s next Starting this year, the church will host an array of events such as performances by Odysseus Chamber Orchestra, Good Friday services and vacation Bible school that will be open to the public in June.

5. Verona Villa


What we reported Verona Villa opened Sept. 29 with a 17,500-square-foot, Tuscan style event venue that offers customizable facilities for occasions ranging from weddings to corporate events.


The latest Since its opening, the venue has hosted several affairs, including an event for the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau to launch the organization’s new marketing campaign.


What’s next Owner Jason Young said Verona Villa has 50 events on the books throughout 2017 and extending into 2018. Some of the activities include an event to launch the mayoral campaign, the Frisco Family Services Gala, weddings and corporate events.
