Company aims to spread air-blown joy

It all started with a birthday cake.

Frisco resident Chancy Green said when her father drove from Minnesota for his granddaughter’s first birthday one year, he stopped by a roadside vendor to buy an inflatable birthday cake for the yard. Green’s family enjoyed the inflatable so much that they decided to put it up every year for their birthdays, she said. Green would even put the birthday cake up for her neighbors’ and friends’ birthdays.

After hearing one of her friends was starting a new job, Green wanted to do something with the inflatables she collected throughout the years. She started Inflation Celebrations in October 2013.

Inflation Celebrations is a rental company for air-blown inflatable decorations. Green said the first year of the new business has been successful.

“I love doing it. It’s fun,” Green said. “I think it’s kind of a no-brainer for people next birthday to think, ‘I’m going to do that again.'”

Customers rent inflatables by filling out an order form on www.inflationcelebrations.com or by calling 469-251-2351. The business has no physical location.

Green processes the order and confirms with the customer if the inflatable is available. She then drives to the recipient’s location before sunrise to set up the inflatable the day of the celebration. She returns to the location just after sunset the same day to remove the inflatable.

Each order includes a card with a personalized message from the giver that Green leaves on the recipient’s door.

Green has more than 20 different inflatables for various occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries and baby announcements. Although she has some holiday-specific inflatables, Green said she aims to purchase inflatables that can be used year-round.

“It’s great for babies to older [people],” she said. “Sometimes for adults, it’s hard to figure out what to buy them because they don’t need anything. But, this is a nice way to acknowledge their birthday.”

Currently, Green delivers in Frisco and surrounding communities. The price for an inflatable increases the farther the location is from the intersection of Legacy Drive and Lebanon Road.

In her second year, Green said she hopes the business grows even more. She said ordering an inflatable is easy and affordable.

The main goal of the business is to spread joy, Green said.

“Someone will order it for a recipient, and not only are they wishing that person a happy birthday, but everybody else is,” she said. “The neighbors are seeing it for your birthday, and so are friends.”

Ordering an inflatable for someone may seem like a simple gesture, but Green said it can mean a lot to people. When Green’s first birthday cake inflatable stopped working, her neighbor bought her a new one, saying he couldn’t stand to not see the inflatable up for his children’s birthdays.

“That just meant so much to me because that was at a time when I didn’t realize how much it meant to people until then,” Green said.
