Editor's note: The election results have been updated based on information from the Secretary of State's website.

With all precincts reporting, Justin Holland has won the May 24 primary runoff election for the State House District 33 Republican primary with 50.6 percent of the votes, or 4,027 votes, according to unofficial voting results. John Keating has 49.4 percent of the votes, or 3,928 votes. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Holland said he is ready to work for everyone in District 33, which includes Rockwall and Collin counties.

"I have deep-rooted, established relationships in Rockwall County, but I'm going to work over the next nine months or so to make sure that the city councils, the mayors, the school board trustees and the county commissioners and county judge [in Collin County] can all get on the same page," Holland said. "Know that I won this thing for the entire district, not just my county."

Keating said he thanks everyone who volunteered for his campaign, and he congratulated Holland in an email. He said he and his family have not made any decisions yet about running for office again.

"We dedicated almost a year of our time into this campaign, and now it's just time to take a break with family," Keating said.

Holland will face Democratic candidate Karen Jacobs in November for the general election.

The winner of the general election will take the place of State Rep. Scott Turner, R-Frisco, who decided not to seek re-election.

Holland is currently serving as a Heath City Council member. Holland is the co-owner and manager of Regal Realtors and is a native of Rockwall.

Keating is currently serving as a Frisco City Council member and is mayor pro tem. He is a U.S. Army veteran and is a member of various veteran organizations.

Jacobs retired in 2013 from Raytheon, where her latest position was program director. Jacobs has been a Heath resident for more than 20 years, where she lives with her family.
