Those looking to hop aboard the Vintage Railroad for a Day Out With Thomas this weekend will find that they have to use a temporary platform as the original loading platform is no longer there.
The city of Grapevine and the Fort Worth Transportation Authority demolished the Cotton Belt Depot’s loading platform along the railroad on March 22. The demolition is the first step in the construction of the railroad’s 18 feet x 400 feet replacement platform and will allow Grapevine’s steam excursion railroad to operate in unison with the new TEXRail commuter service. The new platform is scheduled to be complete in early November 2017.
A temporary loading platform is located 500 feet west of the previously existing platform.
Although, the platform is under construction the railroad will operate regularly scheduled excursions, charters and special events throughout the TEXRail Commuter Project.
