Members of Allen City Council will discuss authorizing a specific use permit for a business, amending the city’s land development code and more at an upcoming June meeting.
Allen City Council will meet at 6 p.m. June 23 for a work session, with a regular meeting to follow at 7 p.m.
A closer look
Council members will hold a public hearing and consider approval of a special use permit to allow a golf simulation business to lease space along Bethany Drive.
Dynamite Performance Golf is a golf simulation business that uses a high-speed 3D motion capture system to help members improve their golf technique, per its website.
The proposed business will occupy approximately 6,500 square feet of space at 105 W. Bethany Drive, Ste. 130, per city documents. The building is currently zoned for light industrial uses, and the Allen Development Land Code requires a specific use permit for a gymnastics or sports training facility to operate at that location, according to city documents.
The Allen Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of this permit at its June 2 meeting.
Also of note
Council members will also vote on a state-mandated amendment to the Allen Land Development Code regarding the notification process.
The Building and Standards Commission reviews and makes recommendations to council for changes to building codes, city documents state. However, as Allen has a population of over 100,000, the city is now required to hold a public hearing in addition to internal review before adopting any changes.
Other regular meeting agenda items include:
- Consider spending $195,500 for a study of the 2027 Water, Sewer, and Roadway Impact Fees Update
- Set Aug. 21-23 as the dates for the council budget workshop
- Consider approving City Council minutes from the June 9 meeting
