Although there are a number of food truck cuisine options in Houston, Bloom Kitchen & Garden on Louetta Road is dedicated solely to vegetarian comfort food.
Taylor Bridges opened the business in early December, but closed due to cold weather with plans to re-open the weekend of Feb. 27–28. The food truck is located at the corner of Louetta Road and Lakewood Forest Drive and features a covered area under which customers can dine outside.
Bridges tries to source all the ingredients as locally as possible, from free-range chickens to goat cheese and heirloom tomatoes. He became a vegetarian about four years ago and eventually converted several of his friends through his cooking. Bridges saved money for two years for the food truck before starting to build the property last May.
"I thought if I was able to have that much of an impact on my friends, I might be able to do something for the community," he said. "A lot of people haven't had veggies prepared properly and fresh—they don't know it can be tasty."
