Keough, a Republican, is seeking a third term as the top elected official in the county. Graf, a Democrat, spent his career in finance and management.
"I give all the glory to God!" Keough said on Facebook after polls closed. "Thank you Montgomery County!"
The judge serves as one of five members on the commissioners court, overseeing all of Montgomery County’s operations and finances. The election is for a four-year term.
Keough, in a Q&A before the election, said the top issue facing the county was managing rapid growth “without sacrificing the safety, mobility, affordability and quality of life that brought families here.”
“We must stay ahead of traffic, drainage, law enforcement and court needs while keeping government accountable and protecting taxpayers,” Keough said.
Graf, in his candidate Q&A, told Community Impact that the county needed experienced financial leadership to tackle challenges of growth facing Montgomery County.
“Conservative fiscal responsibility requires longer-term financial planning as we grow to a million residents, to protect taxpayers, public safety, critical services and our way of life,” Graf said. “We need experienced financial leadership that doesn’t kick the can with annual budgets and simply hope for the best in the future.”
Keough was first elected county judge in 2018. He previously served in the state House of Representatives.
