Zinger Hardware, which features traditional general store items along with a unique collection of products ranging from indoor and outdoor furniture, toys, kitchen items and paper goods, made a good move last summer.

The hardware store relocated from its nine-year home on West Anderson Lane to the Central Market shopping center on North Lamar Boulevard in 2011.

"It has been a great success," said Michael Ferweda, who owns the store with his wife, Katherine Friend. "It became the social engagement we really wanted the store to be."

Ferweda and Friend, who are involved in many charitable organizations, do their best to keep their prices down in order to stay competitive with other larger stores. In addition, their mission is to support small manufacturers both locally and nationally.

"It's been fun," Ferweda said. "We made the right move."
