1. Austin Pets Alive Thrift will open a new location at 1304 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, in early November. Retail Operations Manager Derrick Ernst said the location will be a “boutique-style” store. Austin Pets Alive! Thrift sells new and gently used clothing, with sales benefiting the animals and programs of the Austin Pets Alive! animal shelter. 2. De Nada Tacos is scheduled to open by December at 4715 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin. The new taco restaurant comes from 2 Dine 4 Hospitality—the catering, events and restaurant company that also operates nearby East Austin spots Sawyer & Co. on Cesar Chavez, along with Happy Foods, which opened in July on Gonzales Street. www.denadatacos.com
3. Gati, a new nondairy ice cream and coffee spot from Thai Fresh owner Jam Santichat, opened Oct. 12 at 1512 Holly St., Austin. The idea started when Santichat ordered too many mangoes at the South Austin restaurant and put mango coconut-milk ice cream on the menu.
