We Are Blood to host Legacy of Life Benefit

We Are Blood will host its inaugural Legacy of Life Benefit on Sept. 24 at Distribution Hall in downtown Austin from 4-7 p.m. The event will celebrate and recognize Central Texas blood donors, volunteers, healthcare professionals and partners who work with We Are Blood.

The event will feature an awards ceremony highlighting honorees, time to network with civic and business leaders and a silent auction and wine pull fundraiser. 

We Are Blood is selling guest tickets for $250, with community sponsorship opportunities ranging from $2,500-$25,000. Individuals can purchase tickets or donate directly to the organization online. All proceeds raised will support We Are Blood’s mission, expanding its capacity to serve Central Texans, according to the organization. 

Why it matters

We Are Blood serves ten counties in Central Texas, acting as the sole supplier of blood to more than 50 hospitals and medical facilities in the area, according to the organization. 

The non-profit requires 200 donations per day to meet local demand, according to We Are Blood and previous Community Impact reporting. These donations help save the lives of cancer patients, children undergoing surgery or people experiencing a traumatic emergency.

The benefit coincides with We Are Blood's 75th anniversary. The local non-profit celebrated in early 2026, according to previous Community Impact reporting, with its Partners for Patients blood drive campaign from Jan. 2-9.
