Garbo's Fresh Maine Lobster announced on social media that the restaurant will not renew its North Lamar lease. The seafood restaurant is shuttering the location Sept. 26. However, Garbo’s fans will still be able to find the familiar lobster rolls at the North Mopac location, the post details.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who made this place what it is,” Garbo's co-owners Samantha, Heidi and Hannah shared on Instagram. “We’ll miss it more than we can say.”
The history
Heidi Garbo started Garbo’s in the Florida Keys before moving the restaurant concept to Austin, according to the restaurant’s website. She opened the first brick-and-mortar spot in North Austin before expanding to Clarksville and Dripping Springs with help from her sisters Samantha and Hannah Garbo.
The North Lamar location initially launched in March 2023, according to previous Community Impact reporting—a year before the seafood restaurant opened the Dripping Springs location. The Dripping Springs expansion shuttered in January 2026.
On the menu
Patrons can expect to see lobster rolls served with hand-cut fries, chips, jalapeno slaw or a side salad. The seafood restaurant serves several roll options, including:
Connecticut lobster rolls: Butter-poached Maine lobster with house seasoning, fresh lemon juice and scallions in a New England top-split bun ($36).
Maine lobster rolls: Chilled Maine lobster, mayo, celery and lemon zest with house seasoning, fresh lemon juice and scallions in a New England top-split bun ($36).
Seasonal lobster rolls
Mini lobster rolls: a single 1 oz lobster roll ($14) or one each of the Connecticut, Maine, and seasonal rolls ($40).
Other offerings include lobster bisque, fish and chips, crab cakes, smoked fish dip, oysters and caviar.

The Garbo sisters encourage locals to visit the restaurant before its late September closure.
“Come see us, have a lobster roll, raise a glass and help us give Garbo’s on Lamar the send-off it deserves,” the owners shared online.
