Veracruz All Natural will soon bring tacos, quesadillas and aguas frescas to Clarksville. The Austin-based Mexican restaurant is taking over the former Garbo’s Fresh Maine Lobster location on North Lamar Boulevard.
The Veracruz team will host a grand opening at the new location on Dec. 1, according to Lydie Joly de Trejo, director of business at Veracruz All Natural and Veracruz Juice Bar.
The history
Veracruz is owned by sisters Reyna and Maritza Vazquez. The brand started as an Austin-based food trailer in 2008 and has now grown to include seven locations across Austin and Round Rock.
On the menu
Veracruz serves up a selection of breakfast tacos, including the El Tradicional Taco, made with egg, bacon, refried pinto beans, potato and monterey jack cheese. Other tacos include the barbacoa taco, grilled chicken taco and al pastor taco. Patrons can also find chips, salsa, guacamole, queso and quesadillas on the food menu. For drinks, the restaurant offers juices, aguas frescas and smoothies.
The new location on North Lamar Boulevard will offer similar menu items to the other brick and mortar locations, with added Tacos Migas Tejanas, Joly de Trejo said. The restaurant will also serve pastries and coffee from Desnudo Coffee and Palomino Coffee.

The Veracruz team became interested in expanding to Clarksville after customers in the area said they wanted a location closer to home, Joly de Trejo explained. Then, Garbo's team approached Veracruz with the opportunity to move into the space, which felt like a great fit, according to Joly de Trejo. Garbo’s ceased operations on Sept. 26, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
The space provides the convenience of a food truck, equipped with a pick-up window, with the same comfort of a brick-and-mortar location, she said. The new location also features an open kitchen where customers can watch staff prepare their food and interact with the team.
