Leander ISD held a groundbreaking ceremony April 28 to celebrate the start of construction on Elementary School No. 30.
What you need to know
Located near Devine Lake Park close to the Bagdad Road and San Gabriel Parkway intersection, ES No. 30 is intended to address LISD’s quickly growing district—which is all taking place in the northern portion.
ES No. 30 will have the capacity to hold 800 students, district officials said, which will tackle issues of overcrowding in nearby schools. Once construction on ES No. 30 reaches completion, it will be LISD’s fifth new school in the last five years to accommodate substantial growth in the district, according to the April 28 press release.
Funding for ES No. 30 is available through the district’s savings from 2017 and 2007 bond packages.

“As LISD continues to grow, I’m grateful to celebrate the construction of Elementary School 30 out of bond savings,” Superintendent Bruce Gearing said in the release. “We are fortunate to be able to provide facilities for our incredible students and staff with input and support from our community.”
Board President Trish Bode said the construction of ES No. 30 is “a long time coming,” and she as well as the community are excited about its upcoming opening.
“When [ES No. 30] opens, it [will be a] building for our teachers and for our students to get together, so I’m thinking we’re going to experience more excitement in learning going on,” she said. “That means a lot to our community, to have a building and not portables.”
Next steps
ES No. 30 is scheduled to welcome its first wave of students in August 2024. LISD has not yet named the school, officials said, but a naming process is in the works.
