College Station will have a couple of road closures starting May 18 as a result of ongoing work, officials announced May 14.
The gist
The pair of road closures is expected to last for at least a couple of months, officials said.
The first is the rehabilitation of Fitch Parkway from northeast Williams Creek Drive to the Carters Creek Bridge. Work is expected to take three months.
The second is the closure of Luther Street at Marion Pugh Drive for waterline construction.
The impact
The resulting work at Fitch will create alternating one-way traffic with temporary signal lights at each end of the work area.
"Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, seek alternate routes if possible, and remain vigilant when traveling through the work zone," officials said in the May 14 news release.
Meanwhile, there is currently a closure along Marion Pugh from George Bush Drive to the Callaway Villas apartments, which is planned to stay in place for another six weeks.
What else?
The work at Fitch is the second phase of a three-phase project. The third phase will run from Rock Prairie Road to the first bridge northeast of Williams Creek Drive. Work will begin in August, officials said.
