Abbott calls for ‘microchip independence’ at Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute groundbreaking
Texas A&M University leaders, state officials and industry partners gathered at the university’s RELLIS campus on April 9 to break ground on the Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute. It’s a project worth more than $200 million, designed to expand training, manufacturing and domestic research on computer chips, which powers computers, phones and cars, among other technology.

Downtown Bryan deli announces closure for 'reorganization' amid economic pressures
Zeitman's Grocery Store in downtown Bryan announced it is now temporarily closed as owners reorganize the business during economic pressures.
Owner Blake Zeitman announced in a March 24 Facebook video post that the deli and grocery store would close "in its current format" after Easter Sunday on April 5. He described the change as a restructuring rather than a permanent closure.

From pit to plate: Aggieland’s C&J Barbeque continues 45-year legacy
C&J Barbeque began within a gas station on Harvey Road in College Station in October 1981, Director Reagan Manning said.
Her parents, Chip and Jo Manning, purchased the gas station and convenience store with the goal of having more space for their catering food truck business, which was previously operated out of their house, Reagan said.
But drawing on her late father’s lifelong love for barbecue, Reagan said Chip added a barbecue pit at the gas station and began smoking two briskets a day, serving up hot links, sliced beef and chopped beef sandwiches.
Now, 45 years later, C&J Barbeque’s three locations across Bryan and College Station have grown from serving 15-20 pounds to over 2,000 pounds of meat daily, she said.

Blinn College keeps tuition unchanged for 2nd consecutive year
Blinn College’s board of trustees voted to keep tuition and general fee rates unchanged for the 2026-27 school year. This is the second year in a row without a tuition increase.
