Zeitman's Grocery Store in downtown Bryan announced it is now temporarily closed as owners reorganize the business during economic pressures.

Owner Blake Zeitman announced in a March 24 Facebook video post that the deli and grocery store would close "in its current format" after Easter Sunday on April 5. He described the change as a restructuring rather than a permanent closure.
Zeitman said the business plans to transition toward offering catering services, grab-and-go options and possible future pop-up events.
Zeitman cited rising protein costs and broader economic challenges as affecting restaurant operations. He described the decision to temporarily close to reorganize as difficult but necessary, adding the goal is to preserve the business long-term.
“We’re always going to stay true to who we are," he said, adding the move is a "see you later" rather than a goodbye.
What's next
Since he owns the restaurant space, he noted a possible return to the deli and grocery store format in the future if economic conditions improve.
Zeitman also operates Damiano's Cucina Italiana in Navasota, which he said is performing very well. Damiano's was a product of the Navasota Zeitman's location. He is also opening Portofino next door in the near future, which is a wine and cocktail bar.
