Three candidates are running in the Republican primary to represent the party in November for Brazos County distict clerk.
The seat is currently held by Gabriel Garcia, who is running for reelection. He is being challenged by Rudy Schultz and Wayland Van Nest.
There is currently no Democratic candidate running for the position.

As district clerk, my primary priorities will be accountability, presence, delivering accuracy and efficiency in managing court records, filings, and jury processes through transparent leadership. Why are you running for district clerk?
With 24 years of experience with Brazos County, I’ve learned the importance of accurate records management and adherence to time standards. I am running to make the operations more efficient and accessible to the courts, attorneys, and the public.
What processes, if any, will you change to make your office more efficient?
I will ensure the e-filing system operates efficiently and documents are accessible to the courts promptly. Delayed filings create unnecessary effort for courts. I will expand digital access of county records to law firms to reduce burden on staff and enhance efficiency on other office needs.
How will you improve customer service and public-facing services for residents?
Improving customer service starts with simplifying services and providing clear, direct communication. When expectations are clear, staff better understand the importance of respectful, consistent customer service. Transparent, efficient, and accessible processes ensure services remain customer focused, easy to navigate, and responsive to the needs of the community.
