Pub and burger restaurant Chubby’s Public House is set to close after serving diners for four years in Bryan.
The gist
Chubby’s is known for serving burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and a variety of sides with alcoholic beverages, according to its website.
Destination Bryan said the restaurant also serves wine from the local Messina Hof Winery.
A social media announcement shared the decision to close was difficult, but the owners thanked the community for supporting the restaurant since its 2022 opening.
“For years, we’ve had the privilege of serving this community and we truly cannot thank all of you enough for the support, friendships, laughs, celebrations and memories you’ve shared with us along the way,” the post said.
The restaurant is also encouraging diners to return and support the staff, thanking them for being a part of the journey.
“Come have one more meal. Have a drink. Say hello. Bring your friends. Make some memories with us,” the post continued.
What happens next?
Chubby’s owners said the restaurant plans to operate regularly until it closes in mid-December. Owner Michelle O'Neil told Community Impact she and her husband are looking forward to a new direction and "going where the wind takes us."
As previously reported by Community Impact, several new local restaurants have opened in Bryan, including Carp's 24 and Hartt's Barbecue. Bryan is also expecting more restaurants in the future, with Whataburger and Waffle House heading to the Rudder's Landing shopping complex.
