Southern breakfast chain Waffle House submitted plans to open its first location in Aggieland after years of rumors and requests from residents.
In a nutshell
As previously reported by Community Impact, Waffle House was voted the most requested restaurant among 148 businesses in an October poll conducted by Grow College Station. Residents of Bryan-College Station have requested that the restaurant open a location for over a decade, with a Facebook group created in 2014.
In a news release, the city of Bryan said the company plans to open the location in the expanding Rudder’s Landing commercial development in west Bryan. Bryan Mayor Bobby Gutierrez said the city is a great place for the restaurant to expand and commended the conversations between the company and the city.
“Personal relationships matter; you never know where they will take you. We listen to our residents,” Gutierrez said. “They have been asking for a Waffle House for years and we’re thrilled to bring them this news.”
