College of the Mainland celebrates Doyle family legacy with building named in their honor

College of the Mainland celebrated the contributions and legacy of a prominent local family Oct. 25 with a ceremony formally naming the Doyle Family Administration Building, according to a media release.

This is the first building in COM history to be named in honor of anyone, per the release. Four generations of Doyles were present at the naming ceremony.

The family has supported the college for nearly six decades through their work in education, banking, government, civic leadership and community leadership, COM leaders said in the release.

"Like their parents, the Doyle children all work passionately to follow in their parents’ footsteps of service," the release stated. "Through their work in education, banking, government, and community and civic leadership, Matthew, David, Denise, Patrick and Christopher have dedicated significant time, energy and resources to leave a lasting imprint on the lives of those around them."

The building, made possible through the college's 2018 bond program, houses administration and student enrollment offices such as admissions, financial aid, advising and a testing center, per the release.

The Doyles and community members have worked together to provide a quality, accessible educational experience at COM, Charles Doyle said.

“Family and public service are extremely important,” he said in the release. “We are fully prepared to continue serving this community and others where they might live.”
