League City officials will soon consider awarding a nearly $50 million contract to construct a 106-acre sportsplex on the city’s west side, near Calder Drive and Ervin Street, named after Pat Hallisey. Hallisey served as the city’s mayor from 2016 to 2022 and as director of the League City and Galveston County park departments.
The park will also have a memorial garden dedicated to four of the Texas Killing Fields victims, Heidi Fye, Laura Miller, Audrey Cook and Donna Prudhomme.
The Texas Killing Fields refers to an area in League City along I-45, near the proposed park, where the bodies of more than 30 women have been found since the 1970s.
