The Bastrop County Elections Office is seeking reimbursement for overtime pay after processing more than 2,200 delayed voter registration records received from the state in late September.
What happened
Elections Administrator Kristin Miles told Community Impact the backlog was due to a technical error at the state level and affected many counties.
"Texas county voter registrars across the state have received a flood of new voter registrations and updates to voter registration records submitted through the Texas Department of Public Safety," she said in an announcement. "Some of these submissions date as far back as October 2025, but were not sent to Texas county voter registrars until this week."
Miles said staff worked around the clock and had all records processed by midnight Sept. 30.
Zooming in
The backlog resulted in an extra $1,200 worth of overtime pay.
