Austin ISD trustee Paul Saldaña's resignation, new Oak Hill Plaza tenants and more things Southwest Austinites should know this week, April 10-14
Oak Hill Plaza, located at the intersection of Hwys. 71 and 290 in Oak Hill, announced several new tenants in 2017.
- The Austin ISD board of trustees voted to approve the district's updated Facility Master Plan last Monday. In Southwest Austin, 15 schools are slated for renovations, 14 will undergo full modernization, two are categorized as targeted projects, and one has been placed on the Targeted Utilization Plan, or TUP, list. The plan also calls for the eventual construction of three new facilities to relieve overcrowding at Blazier, Kiker and Baranoff elementaries. All projects are contingent upon funding from future bond elections, the first of which is a November bond election expected to be called for by the trustees in June.
- The developers behind Oak Hill Plaza, located at 7101 Hwy. 71, Austin, have added two additional tenants to the recently-renovated retail center. Oak Hill Dental and the Dollar Tree will open for businesses by fall 2017.

South Park Animal Hospital opens feline-only wing on Slaughter Lane[/caption]
South Park Animal Hospital, located at 615 W. Slaughter Lane, Austin, opened a feline-only cat wing in late February. Cat patients now have their own entrance and exit from the building, a private lobby, exam rooms, a treatment room and a hospitalization ward.

Trustee Paul Saldaña of the Austin ISD board announced his official resignation on Friday morning, April 6, 16 months before the end of his term. His last official board meeting will take place on April 24.
- The Brodie Park Shopping Center, located at 9001 Brodie Lane, is expanding to include more retail and restaurant space. Two pads are available for lease, according to the center's development firm Carr Development.
