The cold-weather shelter set up at the Palmer Events Center in downtown Austin is at capacity, according to a Feb. 18 Tweet by the city of Austin.

Residents still seeking shelter can utilize one of three other shelters currently available:
  • Del Valle High School, 5201 Ross Road, Del Valle
  • Mendez Middle School, 5106 Village Square, Austin
  • Reilly Elementary School, 405 Denson Drive, Austin
Austin ISD is also operating four warming centers from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.:
  • Lee Elementary School, 3308 Hampton Road, Austin
  • Murchison Middle School, 3700 N. Hills Drive, Austin
  • Joslin Elementary School, 4500 Menchaca Road, Austin
  • Barrington Elementary, 400 Cooper Drive, Austin
The Austin Disaster Relief Network has also converted seven local churches into shelters. According to the network, individuals planning to stay at the shelter should bring blankets, dry food, toiletries and a change of clothes when possible. Four shelters—Point Community Church, Friendship Creekside, Hill Country Bible Church and University Ave Church of Christ—are also allowing crated pets.
