Sunset Valley had entered its second week of reported ongoing local car burglaries, according to Police Chief Lenn Carter.

Carter told City Council on April 21 that the Sunset Valley Police Department is looking for a suspect or suspects who have been “rifling through vehicles” at night. Residents have continued to report break-ins but have not yet reported that that any valuable items have been stolen.

“We are spending the overnight hours trying to catch the person or persons,” Carter said.

Carter asked residents to call 911 if they suspect their car was tampered with. Even if residents are not interested in submitting a formal report, calling police could help the department track incidents and find a pattern.

“We will catch them,” Carter said.
