Dripping Springs ISD staff were trained in effectively reuniting students with their families in the event of an evacuation due to funding from Hays County officials.

What happened

DSISD staff joined Hays CISD and Wimberley ISD staff June 3-4 in a training session hosted by the "I Love U Guys" Foundation, a nonprofit that provides crisis response training to organizations.

The training covered the Standard Response Protocol and Standard Reunification Model at the DSISD administrative office.

Looking back

DSISD officials received $19,500 from the county, allocated from the American Rescue Plan Act, to fund the training.

In a letter to the Hays County Office of Emergency Services, DSISD Director of Safety Sirenna Cumberland said the reunification training is “crucial” for school staff and first responders.

Quote of note

“Safety of our students is paramount in everything we do, and [it is] the responsibility of this body to ensure that,” board member Rob McClelland said. “We do these things now so when the unexpected happens we are prepared.”
