Dripping Springs ISD has made the decision to cancel school for Feb. 2 as temperatures in the morning and early afternoon are expected to remain low.

After-school activities and meetings, including a board workshop, will resume as normal on Feb. 2 as temperatures are anticipated to rise throughout the day.

A delayed start was considered by the district, but due to parts of the district's population needing use rural roads, DSISD made the decision it was not safe to expect families to travel on roads that had not yet possibly thawed from ice.

According to the National Weather Service, the winter weather advisory is expected to end at 6 a.m. on Feb. 2.

DSISD previously canceled school and after-school activities Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, and canceled all after-school activities Jan. 30.

Regular school operations will resume Feb. 3.
