Dripping Springs ISD has canceled classes and school activities Feb. 16 and 17 as severe weather conditions persist, according to a news release from the district. The DSISD Child Development Center will also be closed.

Previously, DSISD said 100% remote classes would be held on those days. However, widespread power outages affecting teachers and students caused the district to cancel school entirely.

"We also know that many of our families and dedicated staff are facing issues in their homes with loss of power or water, frozen pipes, etc., and we want everyone to be able to care for their own family’s needs," the district said. "We will evaluate conditions, including those in our facilities, before making a decision regarding Thursday, Feb. 18."
