Austin ISD announced that all district classes have been canceled through Feb. 18 due to recent weather conditions impacting the region.

Classes will resume virtually Feb. 19, with the district practicing a fully asynchronous learning day. According to the district, designated asynchronous learning day aims to allow teachers to spend time lesson planning and working on professional development while students complete work individually and submit assignments online.

AISD students have not been on campus since Feb. 11. Ahead of forecasted winter weather over the past weekend, AISD moved all classes Feb. 12 to a virtual setting, advising students and staff to bring necessary technology home with them for remote learning. Students in the district were also scheduled to be off from school Feb. 15 in observance of the Presidents Day holiday.

The district is continuing to monitor weather, local power outages and other impacts and will provide future updates on its website, according to the Feb. 15 announcement by AISD.
