Dripping Springs ISD’s board of trustees voted unanimously at Feb. 24 meeting to issue an official election notice for the entity’s May 2 election, in which district constituents will vote on two at-large board positions. The board also formalized election contracts with Hays and Travis Counties.

The election order included the details of all early voting locations for Hays County voters, but not for the district’s Travis County voters, as those locations are still under development by Travis County. From April 20-28, Dripping Springs ISD constituents who live in Hays County can vote early at Dripping Springs City Hall, Ledgestone Senior Living or the Hays County Precinct #4 Office.

Currently, the primary early voting location named for Travis County voters is the Travis County Airport Office, at 5501 Airport Blvd., Austin. However, board President Carrie Kroll said she expected there would be additional locations available.

At the same meeting, the board also voted on a resolution to approve a new, accessible voting system—The Express Vote Universal Voting System Version 6020—for the upcoming election. The system employs a touchscreen while also producing a paper record.

The formal election notice follows the district’s announcement that five candidates will run for the open board seats—Lori Broughton, Stephanie Holtzendorf, Jon Thompson and incumbents Ron Jones and Barbara Stroud.
