Five candidates will compete for the votes of Dripping Springs ISD constituents as they vie for two open board of trustees positions in the district's May 2 election. Incumbents Barbara Stroud and Ron Jones are running after completing their current three-year terms. Lori Broughton, Stephanie Holtzendorf and Jon Thompson are also running.

Members of the DSISD board of trustees do not represent places as members of the Dripping Springs City Council do, meaning that candidates do not run for specific seats. Instead, the two candidates who receive the most votes will step into the open positions.

Early voting for the 2020 Hays County election takes place April 20-28 ahead of election day, May 2. Times vary for early voting, but polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on election day.

According to the district, two other candidates have withdrawn from consideration since the Feb. 14 filing deadline: Dan O'Brien and DJ Withee.
