CapMetro announced a partnership this month with FlixBus to expand service options, adding a new FlixBus stop at the South Congress Transit Center, or SCTC.

The overview

This new stop joins the existing FlixBus stops in downtown Austin and at the Eastside Bus Plaza.

A regional connection to local public transit options will make travel easier for residents and visitors alike while supporting the region’s growth, CapMetro Chief Operating Officer Andrew Skabowski said.

The SCTC is a park-and-ride facility featuring 61 parking spaces, three fixed bus routes and one rapid bus route. Future plans under Project Connect include adding a light rail station at this location.

Quote of note

“By leveraging intermodal hubs like the SCTC, we are not just enhancing connectivity in Austin but also setting a standard for how cities across the country can make public transportation more accessible, equitable and integrated for all residents of their communities,” FlixBus North America CEO Kai Boysan said in a statement.
