Austin Transit Partnership approves lease for new downtown office
Austin Transit Partnership voted to renew its current downtown Austin office lease, as well as expand into larger space next door, which ATP officials say will help support the agency's expected growth.
The board approved a $13.5 million agreement to lease office space for 48 months at 203 Colorado St.—the agency's current office—as well as space next door at 201 Colorado St.
The combined office space will total 54,000 square feet, which ATP officials said will help as the agency anticipates growing from about 200 staff to 280 over the next several years as Project Connect plans move forward.
The new space will also allow for co-location of the agency's contractors, consultants and other partners including CapMetro and the city of Austin.

Blakey Lane plan advances with Jessica Place connection
Bastrop is moving ahead with a Blakey Lane extension intended to connect the Sendero and Burleson Crossing shopping areas with businesses to the east, such as H-E-B and downtown shops.
The plan has drawn opposition from Riverside Grove residents over opening a subdivision street called Jessica Place to through traffic; however, officials said more input will be considered during design.

Hays County receives over $15M in funding for FM 2001 road projects
Hays County received over $15 million in Surface Transportation Block Grants from the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, or CAMPO, for three road projects that will improve safety and mobility on its roadways.
CAMPO selected the three county projects, located along FM 2001, as part of its 2028–31 call for projects, according to a county news release. The funding will support project work totaling approximately $24.5 million.

New Braunfels allocates additional $73.8K for Kohlenberg Road project design
New Braunfels City Council approved an additional $73,823 to engineering company KCI Technologies on Sept. 14 for design and utility coordination service changes relating to the final plans for the Kohlenberg Road widening project.
The $15,932,000 project is being funded by the city’s voter-approved 2023 Bond, Proposition A and the New Braunfels Economic Development Corp., according to the city’s website.
Kohlenberg Road will be widened from a two-lane road to a four-lane road. A turn lane will be added along with a traffic signal at FM 1101.

State invests approximately $1.5B in Austin-area roadway improvements
Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Department of Transportation recently announced a 10-year transportation plan that will invest almost $140 billion in roadway improvements across the state.
The Texas Transportation Commission approved the 2027 Unified Transportation Program at an August meeting. The funding includes $95 billion for projects across the state and $43 billion for development and routine maintenance. The investment is expected to improve safety, reduce congestion and strengthen the supply chain.

Williams Drive construction begins Sept. 16 in Georgetown
Construction on Williams Drive between Austin Avenue and Jim Hogg Road began Sept. 16 in Georgetown, according to a city news release.
The first phase of the project will include constructing a raised center median, adding street lights and landscaping, and upgrading intersections and traffic signals from Serenada Drive to Lakeway Drive.
Once construction begins, crews will remove the current center turn lane, preventing drivers from making left turns across the road in this section. Drivers can still access all businesses and neighborhoods, though some traffic patterns will change.
